Amidst the controversies being thrown at her, Miss Philippines Megan Young won the most coveted Miss World 2013 Top Model award against 126+ other contestants from around the world.

This was announced during this morning’s rehearsals, according to reliable fashion website GlobalBeauties.com.

Megan’s closest rival, Miss Brazil Sancler Frantz Konzen won the Beach Fashion competition while Miss Nepal was hailed winner of the Beauty With a Purpose award and Miss India was hailed winner of the Social Media Award.

“Kapag under the influence ka, hindi mo alam kung ano ang ginagawa mo.” This was the short but meaningful statement of Raymart Santiago after submitting his counter-affidavit recently before the Marikina Regional Trial Court, in relation to cases filed against him by his wife Claudine Barretto.

Aside from the videos and photos against Claudine, Raymart also included in his sworn statement medical records showing his wife allegedly testing positive for drug use; and testimonials from Claudine’s siblings Gretchen, Marjorie and Jay-Jay who allegedly believe that Claudine is mentally ill and in need of professional help.

Days after Raymart filed his counter-affidavit, Claudine used social media to respond to her husband’s accusations. “You don’t destroy people you love,” said Claudine in her official Twitter account.

ABS-CBN’s top-rating and Twitter-trending singing-reality show “The Voice of the Philippines” comes to an exciting finish as its final four artists clash to win over the public in their final and much-anticipated showdown this Saturday (Sept 28) and Sunday (Sept 29) at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.

The stage is set for the vocal battle among Janice Javier of Team Apl, Klarisse de Guzman of Team Sarah, Myk Perez of Team Bamboo, and Mitoy of Team Lea. From whose team will come the first ever “Voice of the Philippines”?

Serving as refreshing counterpoints to the central heroines in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen” are two, compelling male characters who reinforce the film’s comedy, action and adventure quotient. They are the outdoorsman Kristoff and handsome prince Hans, voiced respectively by Jonathan Groff (TV’s “Glee”) and Santino Fontana (Broadway’s “Billy Elliott”).

“Our characters needed to have great depth,” he says director Chris Buck. “We wanted them to feel real—even in a magical world—so that they could make a personal connection to the people watching.”

In “Frozen,” fearless optimist Anna sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

Kristoff is a true outdoorsman. He lives high up in the mountains where he harvests ice and sells it to the kingdom of Arendelle. Rough around the edges, Kristoff’s the strong, no-nonsense type, who follows his own set of rules. He may seem like a loner, but he always has his best friend by his side—a loyal and extremely mangy reindeer.

Voiced by Jonathan Groff, Kristoff promises to raise a few eyebrows—in a good way. “Kristoff is an interesting guy because he doesn’t have a lot of social graces and he’s not great with people,” says Groff. “Yet he’s still charming—he just doesn’t realize that he’s charming because he spent so much of his time alone.”

“We liked the idea of an atypical Disney protagonist,” says Buck. “He’s just a regular guy. He’s messy and dirty and unexpected. He lives in the mountains outside Arendelle and his best buddy is a reindeer named Sven.”

“Kristoff is really important to the story because he has no problem challenging Anna’s point of view,” says directorm Jennifer Lee. “We knew we’d need someone like Jonathan who people would like even when he disagreed with her. And Jonathan—that voice …”

“Everyone just fell for him,” adds Buck. “He brings this likable charm to the character. He’s very easy going—an every-man kind of guy.”

Meanwhile, Hans is a handsome royal from a neighboring kingdom who comes to Arendelle for Elsa’s coronation. With 12 older brothers, Hans grew up feeling practically invisible—and Anna can relate. Hans is smart, observant and chivalrous. Unlike Elsa, Hans promises he’ll never shut Anna out; he just might be the connection she’s been waiting for all these years.

Santino Fontana was called on to voice Anna’s suitor. “Hans has a good sense of humor,” says Fontana. “He’s slightly awkward—but in a good way, which is a good match for Anna. They find each other at a perfect time because they both need someone to say, ‘You’re OK.’”

Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez wrote “Love Is an Open Door” to showcase the spark between Hans and Anna. “This song explains why Anna would rush into marrying somebody who she only knew for a day,” says Anderson-Lopez. “If she had a whole life of doors in her face and this one night a door opens, she’s going to run through it as fast as she can because she’s been craving love for so long.”
Adds Lopez, “Not only did you have to understand why she would make such a rash decision, but you have to agree with that decision. We want the audience to say, ‘Yeah, Hans is great, she should marry that guy.’ That’s why the song is so sunny and happy.”

Opening across the Philippines in 3D and 2D on Nov. 27, “Frozen” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Actor-on-the-rise Chris Pratt, best known for TV’s “Parks and Recreation” and the Oscar-nominated “Moneyball,” now stars opposite Vince Vaughn in DreamWorks Pictures’ new life-affirming comedy, “Delivery Man.”

The film tells the story of affable underachiever David Wozniak (Vaughn), whose anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years earlier resulted in 533 children. David must now embark on a journey that leads him to discover not only his true self but also the father that he could become.

Pratt plays David’s best friend Brett, a fledgling lawyer raising four kids on his own. According to Pratt, “Brett is despondent, depressed, fat, at the end of his rope and buried in the responsibility of having four children. He’s in a bad spot, and he sees the opportunity to represent David in this class action lawsuit as his last chance to reignite his passion.”

“Brett is one of David’s childhood friends,” says Vaughn. “I wouldn’t say that he’s a successful attorney, but he’s an attorney. He’s overwhelmed with being a father himself. He’s doing it on his own. And so, he’s telling David that he shouldn’t be a father, and particularly that David’s not equipped to be a father.”

“Chris Pratt was our first choice for the part,” says producer Mark Sourian. “And, in fact, so much so, we more or less cast him without an audition or meeting. We felt he was the perfect confidant, for Vince.”
And sure enough, Vaughn and Pratt bonded on the set, quickly becoming each other’s biggest fan. “Chris is terrific,” says Vaughn. “He likes to have fun, he likes to joke around. He would make me laugh everyday on set, so it was easy jumping in and playing friends.”

Adds Sourian, “Brett mirrors the situation that David is in, in terms of finding themselves in an extraordinary situation that allows them both as underachievers to step it up and become the best versions of themselves. That’s what makes the two of them so endearing. You want to root for them because they’re underdogs, and that’s part of the reason why you love them so much.”

In February 2014, Pratt will be lending his voice to the Warner Bros. animated feature “The Lego Movie,” as the film’s lead character “Emmett.” Also lending their voices to the film are Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman and Elizabeth Banks.

Pratt is currently in production on the Marvel feature “Guardians of the Galaxy,” where he plays “Star-Lord,” the leader of a group of alien superheroes sent out to defend the galaxy. Disney will release “Guardians” on August 1, 2014.

In addition to acting, Pratt includes among his other passions hunting, fishing and writing. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and son.

“The Wall of Wall Street” is an upcoming Martin Scorsese film starring Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

“The Wolf of Wall Street” is based on Jordan Belfort’s best-selling memoir of the same title, which chronicles his rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life.

According to Paramount, the film is a true-life drama, which teams DiCaprio with director Martin Scorsese for a fifth time, and it dives into the sex, drugs, yachts and 1990s excess of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort, who penned the best-selling memoir “The Wolf of Wall Street.” DiCaprio stars as Belfort, a hard-living sort who makes mad money on Wall Street ($49 million in 1996 alone) and enjoys the booze and babes that come with it. The good times last for only so long, though, because the FBI shows up wanting Belfort to help in their case involving securities fraud and corruption.

“The Wolf of Wall Street” is set to hit North American theaters on December 25, 2013 and later in the Philippines.

Paramount Pictures has unleashed the official trailer of the ground-breaking film adaptation of the Biblical story of “Noah.” The film stars Russell Crowe as the beloved Bible character.

Subject to divine visions foretelling the end of the world, Noah attempts to tell his people to cease their wickedness and turn from their evil ways and to turn to God before it is too late. No one listens to his warnings, and Noah and his family build an ark to be saved from the Flood that God is bringing on the earth.

The Biblical epic film is directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel. It also stars Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, and Ray Winstone. It’s loosely based on the story of Noah’s Ark and is set to be released in theaters worldwide on March 28, 2014.

Meet the characters of “Adarna,” GMA Network’s newest primetime fantaserye topbilled by Geoff Eigenmann, Mikael Daez, Benjamin Alves and Kylie Padilla.

Adarna is the story of Ada (Kylie Padilla) who is prophesized to be the most powerful healer in Pugad Sanghaya. As she discovers the path towards fulfilling her fate, she meets three men – celebrity basketball player Migo (Geoff Eigenmann), street-smart kanto boy Bok (Benjamin Alves) and fearless warrior Falco (Mikael Daez) – each one needing her in his own way.

Other cast-members include Jean Garcia as Larka/Lupe, Chynna Ortaleza as Janelle, Michelle Madrigal as Garuda, Saab Magalona as Robin, Maureen Larrazabal as Jinky, Jestoni Alarcon as Simon, and Dante Rivero as Uwakro.

“Adarna” is set to premiere on November 18, 2013 replacing “Kahit Nasaan Ka Man” under GMA Telebabad block.

“Adarna” is the Kapuso Network’s newest fantaserye that was loosely based on the Filipino mythology of “Ibong Adarna. Topbilled by Kylie Padilla, the primetime series is set to premiere this Monday, November 18.

Here is the synopsis of “Adarna” from GMA Network:

Set in Pugad Sanghaya, there rules the despiteful Uwakro. One day, he gets seriously ill and orders Garuda to look for the group of healers known as Adarna. One of those is Larka, who is currently pregnant, and husband Kestrel. A prophecy will be declared that her baby will become the most powerful healer in Pugad Sanghaya. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Garuda’s troop chases them which causes Kestrel’s death. Larka, together with her daughter, decides to secretly enter the world of the mortals.

Still worried that Garuda’s troop might follow them; Larka changes her name to Lupe, covers her wings and never uses her healing powers. Instead, Lupe and Ada sell bottles of herbal medicines outside the Quiapo Church.

One day, Ada witnesses a car accident of a young boy named Migo. Ada sings to him and to the people’s surprise, Migo slowly wakes and stands up as of nothing happened. Thinking that Garuda might track them, Lupe decides to fly away by herself and leave Ada to her suitor Simon.

After years of longing for her mother, Ada now lives with Simon together with wife Jinky and stepdaughter Janelle. Ada crosses path with Migo and eventually develop feelings for each other. Migo reveals his mother’s sickness and asks for help from Ada. She agrees to sing to his mother not knowing that her voice reverberates in Pugad Sanghaya.

Unfortunately, one of the members of Garuda’s troop named Bok gets to know of Ada’s ability and tries to get close to her. Despite orders from Garuda, Bok keeps his bad intentions and instead, makes friends with Ada until he slowly falls in love with her.

On her 18th birthday, Ada’s wings will finally spread. Just right in time, Falco comes and explains to Ada her real identity. Ready to guard and fight her love for Ada, Falco will be the one to teach Ada to hold weapons and defend herself from Garuda and her troop.

Among the three men, who will truly love and accept Ada? Who will betray her? Will she be able to find her mother Lupe?
